The Bookshelf: The shape comes from Japanese kites, namely the structure of Hitadoko, converted into a three dimensions to form this Library..
How to Produce: This is actually very easy to produce from metal; Open it up, we can imagine it as an open sheet, then we press cut pieces and connect them perhaps we actually do not even need to weld them.. From wood: Woodworking, they are not so thick layers that could be cut from mdf or a better wood panel, connect, cut, paste, nail them. Plastics: Injection molding, piece of cake..
Possible Materials: The designer noted the following materials could be used in production: Wood, Plastic, Metal.
Dimensions and Packaging: The enclosing box for a single Hitodako Bookshelf is 493 mm x 784 mm x 418 mm, each box contains a single Hitodako Bookshelf and the bounding box dimensions for the package is 543 mm x 834 mm x 468 mm, roughly 165 pieces fit into 20' standard container and 330 pieces fit into the larger 40' standard container..
