Permanent Link : http://www.omcdesign.com/?design=651&type=Stool [View]
Product Family: Cube Chess
Queen Stool
The Stool: The queen stool is the queen of the chess turned into a stool and also a functional sculpture, city furniture, the design complements the cube chess product family, the inspiration of this family came to me when I was a kid and playing with ice cubes, freezing various objects and trapping them into ice cubes, I thought it was quite a sight, and now years later I am here trying to re-imagine what I was doing in my childhood..

How to Produce: The cube chess family is all produced by rotomolding of policarbonate or other highly translucent plastics, alternatively glass, ice and other material could be used to arrive at limited editions or temporary pieces. Silicon could even be another option for realization..

Possible Materials: The designer noted the following materials could be used in production: Plastic, Glass.

Dimensions and Packaging: The enclosing box for a single Queen Stool is 400 mm x 400 mm x 400 mm, each box contains a single Queen Stool and the bounding box dimensions for the package is 450 mm x 450 mm x 450 mm, roughly 325 pieces fit into 20' standard container and 675 pieces fit into the larger 40' standard container..

Recreate Image King Stool #645 designed in 2009
Permanent Link : http://www.omcdesign.com/?design=645&type=Stool [View]
Product Family: Cube Chess
King Stool
The Stool: In chess, the King is the most important piece. But it is not the strongest one!, it is just the case that when you lose it, the game is over. My favorite is always the queen! It could be indeed interesting to have chess change the rules such that the opponent could be defeated by either capturing queen or the king! .

How to Produce: Because of the heavy weight, I think only rotational molding would be feasible for realization. Alternatively, it could be sort of silicon-casted..

Possible Materials: The designer noted the following materials could be used in production: Plastic.

Dimensions and Packaging: The enclosing box for a single King Stool is 400 mm x 400 mm x 400 mm, each box contains a single King Stool and the bounding box dimensions for the package is 450 mm x 450 mm x 450 mm, roughly 325 pieces fit into 20' standard container and 675 pieces fit into the larger 40' standard container..

Permanent Link : http://www.omcdesign.com/?design=641&type=Stool [View]
Product Family: Cube Chess
Cube Pawn Stool
The Stool: Imagine it as a pawn inside an ice-cube that will never melt, by the way thinking of it have you ever frozen an object inside an ice cube? I think it is cool and I used to do it a lot when I was a kid, let this be a tribute to my childhood. This object could also be used as a public/city/street furniture, it is quite heavy and it also acts as a sculpture..

How to Produce: Perhaps rotamolding as it would be heavy for injection molding, the mold is three parts. Inner part is painted after molding. Can alternatively be glass..

Possible Materials: The designer noted the following materials could be used in production: Plastic, Glass.

Dimensions and Packaging: The enclosing box for a single Cube Pawn Stool is 400 mm x 400 mm x 400 mm, each box contains a single Cube Pawn Stool and the bounding box dimensions for the package is 450 mm x 450 mm x 450 mm, roughly 325 pieces fit into 20' standard container and 675 pieces fit into the larger 40' standard container..

Recreate Image Cube Chess Indoor Seating System #640 designed in 2009
Permanent Link : http://www.omcdesign.com/?design=640&type=Indoor+Seating+System [View]
Product Family: Cube Chess
Cube Chess Indoor Seating System
The Indoor Seating System: The Cube Chess (composed of stools) was designed to be both city-street furniture and also as to be elements of a seating system with some fun in it, its intention is not to act as a chess set, it only gives the feeling. The pieces are quite heavy and they act as a sculpture wherever they are located, adding value to the environment. The chess piece designs for this particular seating are also mine therefore does not carry any copyright risk whatsoever..

How to Produce: Three part rotational or interjectional molding, this is quite an heavy object so attention must be taken during the process. After the molding process, the inner part is painted either white or black. The design could even be glass, however I would be extremely careful in this case..

Possible Materials: The designer noted the following materials could be used in production: Plastic, Glass.

Dimensions and Packaging: The enclosing box for a single Cube Chess Indoor Seating System is 400 mm x 400 mm x 400 mm, each box contains a single Cube Chess Indoor Seating System and the bounding box dimensions for the package is 450 mm x 450 mm x 450 mm, roughly 325 pieces fit into 20' standard container and 675 pieces fit into the larger 40' standard container..
