Bas Stool #939 designed in 2010

|
The Stool: Inspired by ancient sculptures that have lost their heads and also the famous Michelangelo's David sculpture, Onur Mustak Cobanli of OMC Design Studios designed the Nuova Testa del David Stool as an iconic piece of furniture that works both as a sculpture and a stool. The stool is made of high temperature ceramics and can bear weights of around 120kg. This new interpretation of stool forms a bridge between traditional crafts and industrial production and the object also carries an ambiguous message with its sharp yet smoothed polygonal face. Designer Onur Müştak Çobanlı noted that he aimed to design an object that could initiate a talk, an object that can create an emotional bond with its users and surprise any spectators. This is the final version of my head series stool, a further inspiration indeed came from the saying "Basimin Ustunde Yerin Var" which literally translates to "You have space on my head" but actually means "You are the boss" or "We are at your disposal". The stool is comfortable and easily carries 120kg of load..
How to Produce: The stool was designed for high-temperature industrial ceramics and has a multi-part mold. .
Possible Materials: The designer noted the following materials could be used in production: Ceramic.
Dimensions and Packaging: The enclosing box for a single Bas Stool is 322 mm x 427 mm x 439 mm, each box contains a single Bas Stool and the bounding box dimensions for the package is 372 mm x 477 mm x 489 mm, roughly 400 pieces fit into 20' standard container and 800 pieces fit into the larger 40' standard container..
